Luigi’s Process Experience — Pizza Game

Do you want to get people excited about processes?

With Luigi’s Process Experience, you can do it in less than three hours!

Luigi is well-known for his delicious pizza. And Luigi is a big fan of processes. Of course, he has also modelled his core process for making pizza. The players of the Pizza Game are given exactly this process model and use it to open their own pizza restaurant. — And experience the benefits of processes first hand.

Well over 500 people have already played the pizza game, and now you can use it to get your colleagues excited about processes too.

LEARN MORE

What players learn from the Pizza Game

The Pizza Game can be used to bring different aspects of processes to life and get people excited about them, for example as part of a process management roll-out.

Experience how to learn and execute a process based on a process model alone

After a short introduction to the basics of the game, players are simply given a process model and the materials required. Afterward, the game can be played. This allows players to experience first-hand how easy it is to learn and execute an unknown process based on simple process documentation.

Gain initial experience in process improvement

The game is played in several rounds. Participants learn how to improve process execution and later process design. This gives them a good feel for how their own processes can be further developed in collaboration with roles such as Process Owners and Process Architects.

Realize that processes are fun

The Pizza Game has been proven to make even people who are not really interested in processes realize that working with processes can be great fun. For example, you can use a kick-off to motivate the team for the tasks ahead, and then simply start the real process work after the Pizza Game.

What participants say about the Pizza Game

Over 500 people have already played the Pizza Game. Here is some feedback about the game.

I’ve always found processes totally boring, but after today’s Pizza Game I’m really looking forward to the next process workshops. Luigi has done a great job in getting my team and me excited about processes.

Uwe, Team Lead

I really enjoyed the game and I think we can take a lot from this little exercise into our everyday lives. I was also pleased with the feedback from the participants. I’m very optimistic for the future.

Victoria, Quality Manager

It was great to see how the team blossomed during the game and how the enthusiasm for the processes was spreading. This created a great atmosphere for the upcoming modelling of our processes.

Questions & Answers on the Pizza Game

Luigi’s Process Experience is no ordinary game. It is a business game that is different from most of the games you know. Here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions.

How many players can play the Pizza Game?

You need at least six people to play the pizza game. The ideal number of players is eight to ten people per team. If you have more people, you can play with additional teams. Players should be evenly distributed between the teams. The maximum number of teams is really only limited by the space available. We have played the Pizza Game with 15 teams playing at the same time.

You will also need a game master to guide you through the game. If you have three or more teams playing at the same time, we recommend that you assign a moderator to each team. The moderator does not play.

Can I play the game with just one team?

Of course, the Pizza Game can also be played with just one team. You need at least six people. But it’s even more fun when several teams compete.

How much time do I need to plan to play the Pizza Game?

In total, you need around 2.5 hours to play the game with one to three teams in parallel. This means that the Pizza Game is perfect for a kick-off and there is still enough time to get straight to work after a lunch of pizza.

What do I get when I buy the Pizza Game?

Once you have purchased the Pizza Game, you will have digital access to the Pizza Game space on New Process Pro. Here you can always download the latest version of the documents required to play the game. These are a series of PDF documents that you can then print out to play the game. To find out what other ‘ingredients’ you need to play the Pizza Game, see the answer to the next question.

What else do I need to play the Pizza Game?

In addition to the documents provided digitally, you will need scissors, pens, paper and sticky notes. You can find out exactly what you need from the materials list included in the game. The cost of these materials is around 35 euros per team, and the scissors and pens in particular can be used for several rounds of the game.

What languages is the Pizza Game available in?

The Pizza Game is currently available in English and German. When you buy the game, you get access to both languages and can download the files as you need them.

Can I buy the Pizza Game on account?

We know from experience how difficult it can be to buy something like the Pizza Game using standard purchasing processes. If you are unable to pay by credit card, we will be happy to send you an invoice that can be paid in Euros by bank transfer to a German IBAN account. You can also provide us with a purchase order number. Simply get in touch with us using the contact form.

Who invented the Pizza Game?

The initial idea for the game came from a brainstorming session with innovation and communications expert Ole Tillmann, Mirko and his team at Lufthansa. The Pizza Game 1.0 was played with hundreds of participants.

After Mirko left, he developed the game from scratch as Pizza Game 2.0 to play with his customers.

With Pizza Game 3.0, we have now rethought and improved the game for you so that it works without Mirko as a game master and can therefore be used by anyone to get people excited about processes.
